The festive season has probably contributed to the slowing down of messages received via the website. In addition, many questions were answered at the Drop-In Day on December 14th. A report of the Drop-In Day is on this website – there was much discussion about traffic in Tower Road, and the accessibility of the pool facilities for locals.
Some of the feedback from the Drop-In Day –
“Great for Portarlington”
“Making the most of the spectacular views”
“Create a Skybar”
“Need plenty of disabled parking”
“Love to see a piano cocktail bar”
“Pleased that it will be outside of the quaint little village we have in the centre of town”
Answers to most of the questions being asked, are in the Community Information Sheet, available on this website.

In response to questions submitted to the website this week:
It is intended that the swimming pools and wellness facilities will be open to the public, as well as resort patrons. It should be remembered that these are private facilities and are not intended to replace the need for public pools. The availability, programs, services and costs of services will not be known until the resort is commissioned and operational.
Some architectural drawings will be available at the Drop-in-day on Saturday 14th December, at the site, 130 Tower Road.
The complete planning application will be available on this website as soon as the planning application is submitted to CoGG
Opportunity to package your products and services with the resort will be open at a much later date.
We note the comments on the Portarlington Community Noticeboard (Facebook group), and the radio media outlets, KRock and BayFM, and the Geelong Advertiser.

Since releasing the information about the proposed Portarlington Resort into the local community last week, there is much talk in town, and some feedback received verbally and via the website.
Thank you to those supporting the proposal. Typical comments include: good location for a resort on the outskirts of town; this township needs some entrepreneurship; health benefits and local jobs will attract more young people to our “old folk village”, there’s opportunity to develop the existing wellness businesses in town; and it’s great that the local community will have use of the facilities.
The one negative feedback received highlighted a need to protect the “heritage nature of the Fishing Village”, and “great fear of “The Floodgates” opening, leading to high rise buildings, congestion, and wall to wall people”.
