Information coming soon.
About 130 people, 6 dogs, and millions of flies dropped into 130 Tower Road, on Saturday December 14th, to view the conceptual plans, and the site for the Portarlington Resort.
Overall, the response to the concept was very positive. Many of those that ‘dropped-in’ lived within walking distance of the site and wanted to see how the proposal would change their immediate landscape. After viewing the conceptual plans and the video, most people agreed that, although the main building was large, it was not as obtrusive as they thought it might be. This was due to siting the main part of the building at the Pigdon Street end of the site, and the site excavation to sit the building into the hill, making the complete building not fully visible.
Two very strong themes emerged during the day:
- Pool accessibility was a constant theme. There was constant feedback about the importance of making the pools and other wellness facilities, not only open to the local community, but also affordable. In fact one lovely lady requested that the wellness facilities be built first, before the accommodation facilities. The need for these facilities in the local community cannot be overlooked.
- Secondly, there was concern for traffic safety in Tower Road, due to current and potential increase in traffic, and the partially unsealed road. Many of those that ‘dropped-in’ on the day were engaged in Tower Road traffic solutions.
Contra Constructions intends to provide extensive information to the local community about this proposed development. Overall, the Drop-in Day was a great success and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Thank you to all who left written feedback on the day, or via the website.
